An KN95 respirator mask is a facial and air passageway protective device designed to achieve a tight facial fit and very strong filtration of airborne particles. The 'KN95' designation means that the mask blocks at minimum 95 percent of very small (0.3 microns) particles. Each mask is individually packaged and sealed for further protection.
These respirators are subject to various regulatory standards around the world. To claim compliance with the required standards, these respirators must meet or exceed required physical properties and performance characteristics. Each country manufacturing these respirators has their own product codes assigned to differentiate them from each other. Here are a few examples of what you may see in the marketplace:
N95 (United States NIOSH-42CFR84)
KN95 (China GB2626-2006)
FFP2 (Europe EN 149-2001)

Quantity: 50 surgical masks in a box (as pictured).
Surgical masks are used as a physical barrier to protect from hazards, such as splashes of large droplets of blood or body fluids. They also protect other people against infection from the person wearing the surgical mask. These masks trap large particles of fluids that may contain bacteria or viruses expelled by the wearer.

Face masks can be unexpectedly complicated, especially for those who are new to wearing them.
Navigating which ones you should buy and understanding who they protect, figuring out if you can reuse them and how to get your little ones to wear them are daunting tasks.
In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.
As cases of the coronavirus have skyrocketed, there's new thinking about the benefits that masks could offer in slowing the spread. The CDC says it is now reviewing its policy and may be considering a recommendation to encourage broader use.
